Hiring Senior SQL Developer - 3 months Contract

Title: Senior SQL Developer (BI & ETL Focus)

Location: Remote

Shift: 1730 to 0230 hours IST

Engagement Model: TM basis (Hourly utilisation)

Min Hours Per week: 20 to 30 hours

Contract Length: 3 months to start with possibility of extension.

Total Experience

•  8 to12 years total experience
• Enough to independently design, debug, and optimize large SQL procedures and pipelines.
• Experience in mentoring and guiding junior developers.

Core Skills

SQL & Database Skills

• Expert-level T-SQL (stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, CTEs, temp tables, error

handling).

• Performance tuning (query optimization, indexes, execution plans).
• Ability to rewrite and refactor large SQL procedures for clarity and efficiency.
• Experience with ETL patterns (staging tables, incremental loads, upserts, fallbacks).
• Knowledge of data warehousing concepts (fact/dim tables, SCD handling, surrogate keys).

ETL / Data Integration

• Experience with SSIS or Azure Data Factory (ADF) for orchestrating SQL procedures and pipelines.
• Comfort with data validation & reconciliation between systems (e.g., Bullhorn vs Power BI datasets).
• Familiarity with change data capture and historical tracking.

Business Intelligence & Reporting

• Understanding of Power BI data modeling (relationships, DAX measures, performance

considerations).

• Experience troubleshooting null/blank values in reports by tracing relationships and query logic.
• Exposure to paginated reports (SSRS / Power BI Report Builder)  able to add columns, change datasets.

Data Governance & Best Practices

• Strong naming conventions, modular coding practices, and use of templates for stored

procedures.

• Version control (Git / Azure DevOps).
• Unit testing and validation of stored procedure outputs.

Sample Responsibilities

1. Develop, maintain, and optimize SQL Server stored procedures, views, and ETL scripts.

2. Design and implement data pipelines from source systems to reporting layers (via staging,

transformations, and fact/dim modeling).

3. Debug and fix data discrepancies between source systems and BI reports.

4. Collaborate with BI developers to ensure report accuracy and performance.

5. Implement best practices for database coding, indexing, and deployment.

6. Document database logic and create templates for repeatable coding patterns.

7. Support migration and parallel testing of changes in dev, test, and prod.
