Job Summary: We are looking for a Fabrication Head to lead our fabrication operations, with a focus on optimizing batch-type production processes and reducing labour dependency through automation. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of welding, CNC machine operations, and galvanizing processes ( optional) . As a dynamic leader, the Fabrication Head should be capable of handling challenging situations, driving process improvements, and brainstorming innovative automation solutions that enhance efficiency and reduce manual labour requirements. he should be a problem solver. Key Responsibilities: Production Leadership: Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the fabrication department, ensuring batch-type production processes run smoothly and efficiently. Can handle about 6000+ MT capacity fabrication plant which will be processed from different automated CNC and manual lines and can deliver at 100% efficiency. Ensure that the production timelines, quality standards, and cost targets are consistently met or exceeded. Troubleshoot and resolve any production-related issues, including those related to welding, CNC operations, and other fabrication techniques. Technical Expertise in Fabrication: Manage CNC machine operations, including programming, setup, and troubleshooting, ensuring precision and accuracy in parts fabrication. Lead welding operations using various techniques, including MIG, TIG, and Stick welding, ensuring high-quality outputs. Provide expert guidance on galvanizing processes (optional), ensuring best practices are followed for quality control. Automation Strategy and Implementation: Brainstorm and propose automation strategies to reduce manual labour and improve overall production efficiency. Evaluate existing systems, processes, and workflows to identify opportunities for automation, including robotics, conveyor systems, and automated machinery. Work closely with engineering and IT teams to implement automation solutions and integrate them into existing production lines. Monitor and troubleshoot automated systems, ensuring their smooth operation and minimizing downtime. Labor Efficiency and Resource Management: "Lead initiatives to reduce labour dependency by optimizing resource allocation and leveraging automation. Alternatively, enhance current labour productivity to achieve greater output without increasing headcount. analyse labour requirements if needed can optimize staffing by automating repetitive or high-manpower tasks. Ensure that the workforce is properly trained to operate advanced machinery and automated systems effectively. Continuous Improvement and Process Optimization: Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency, reduce waste, and increase throughput using Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma principles. Identify process bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve throughput, reduce lead time, and increase product quality. Promote a culture of innovation and proactive problem-solving to meet evolving production needs. Team Development and Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of welders, CNC operators, fabricators, and technicians. Foster a collaborative and results-oriented team environment. Ensure ongoing training and upskilling of team members in welding, CNC operations, automation technologies, and safety practices. Safety and Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to safety standards, including welding, CNC machine operations, and automation systems. Ensure compliance with industry regulations, quality standards, and best practices in all fabrication processes. Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions when necessary to maintain a safe working environment. Collaboration and Reporting: Collaborate with other departments (e.g., procurement, engineering, quality control) to ensure smooth operations and timely delivery of fabricated components. Regularly report to senior management on production performance, automation progress, challenges, and opportunities for improvement. Work with the finance and operations teams to analyse production costs and develop strategies to optimize budgets and resource utilization. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree / degree holder in mechanical engineering, could also be dynamic in Manufacturing Technology or equal working experience or a related field is preferred. Certification in welding (AWS, ASME, etc.) is a plus. ( Optional) Experience: Minimum 8-10 years of experience in fabrication, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role. In-depth knowledge of batch-type production processes, welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick), and CNC machine operations. Experience with automation technologies, including robotics, automated welding systems, and CNC machinery automation, is required. Knowledge of galvanizing processes is an advantage. Proven track record of reducing labour dependency and optimizing production through automation and process improvements. Skills: Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills. Expertise in CNC programming, welding techniques, and automation tools. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle high-pressure situations and resolve production challenges. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies. Proficient in using manufacturing software (e.g., SAP S4 HANA, ERP systems, CAD/CAM, and automation software). Personal Attributes: Innovative and forward-thinking, with a passion for adopting new technologies to improve operations. Highly adaptable and capable of managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Strong decision-making skills and the ability to lead a team through complex and challenging situations. Working Conditions: Full-time position, Work environment involves exposure to industrial machinery, welding equipment, and other fabrication tools. Occasional travel may be required for site visits, supplier coordination, or customer-related activities. Key Responsibilities: * Responsible for end-to-end procurement of raw materials such as steel plates, structural items, casting, forgings, etc. for heavy fabrication. * Develop and manage strategic vendor relationships and ensure timely delivery of materials. * Negotiate prices, delivery terms and contracts to achieve cost savings and quality standards. * Collaborate with production, quality and design teams to forecast material requirements. * Monitor inventory levels and implement best practices in inventory control and material planning. * Identify alternate vendors and sources to reduce lead time and risk. * Ensure compliance with procurement policies and audit standards. Key Requirements: *Minimum 15 years of experience in procurement of raw material for heavy fabrication. * Strong knowledge of steel grades, fabrication drawings and material specifications. * Excellent negotiation, communication, and vendor management skills. * Experience working on Oracle. * Ability to lead a team and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
