Job Purpose:

To support Quality Control and Environmental Compliance activities by conducting routine analysis of wastewater, monitoring effluent treatment processes, maintaining laboratory records, and ensuring adherence to statutory discharge standards under the guidance of senior chemists/ETP officers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine sampling and testing of raw effluent, in-process samples, treated water, and sludge as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Operate and maintain ETP laboratory instruments , BOD & DOD Analysis (e.g., pH meter, DO meter, TDS/TSS meters, spectrophotometers, jar test apparatus).
  • Assist in calibration, troubleshooting, and routine upkeep of laboratory and field equipment.
  • Document and maintain accurate test results, logbooks, and compliance reports in line with QC/QA and environmental guidelines.
  • Conduct jar tests and recommend correct chemical dosage (coagulants, flocculants, nutrients, disinfectants).
  • Monitor biological treatment units and support in maintaining optimum operating conditions for aerobic/anaerobic systems.
  • Ensure treated effluent meets regulatory standards (SPCB/CPCB norms) and support preparation of statutory compliance reports.
  • Work in shift operations and support continuous functioning of the effluent treatment plant.
  • Report deviations, abnormalities, leakages, or non-conformities to senior chemists/ETP in-charge immediately.
  • Maintain workplace safety, good housekeeping, and adhere to Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) guidelines.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Chemistry, Environmental Science,Analytical science or Industrial Chemistry, or equivalent.
  • Experience : 4 to 8 years, prior internship/experience in ETP, wastewater treatment, or chemical industries is an advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of water/wastewater analysis and laboratory practices.
  • Strong observational and documentation skills. Willingness to work in rotational shifts.
  • Good communication, teamwork abilities, and commitment to environmental compliance.
