Job Description

The Innovations & Technology function serves as the backbone of the business. The Head of Research & Development will be accountable for leading the R&D function and engaging with cross-functional teams across various locations to build competencies. This role acts as the central point of contact from R&D for external customers, interfacing with key decision-makers to understand their requirements and business needs. The successful candidate will collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify value-based propositions and application-focused innovations, leading the complete New Product Development cycle by conducting trials to assess product quality and viability. Key Responsibilities Develop products and drive innovation across all domains in alignment with business and client roadmaps. Maximize product profitability and enhance performance through continuous research, technology advancements, and upgrades. Ensure competitiveness and innovation in products and processes from both technological and design perspectives. Serve as an interface between clients and the manufacturing team to facilitate smooth collaboration on product delivery, including participation in production engineering. Maintain oversight of all relevant international regulatory approvals, norms, and standards, including REACH, EPA, and EPD. Collaborate with renowned research laboratories on joint R&D projects. Foster creativity within R&D teams and drive cultural transformation through value-based training and propositions. Leverage existing team skills across domains and engage closely with cross-functional teams at all levels to drive diverse projects. Establish and manage operational budgets for team personnel and equipment. Support R&D initiatives at the group level, encouraging knowledge sharing and the implementation of best practices. Qualifications Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Polymer Science. Up to 57 years of age (not a constraint for a strong candidate). Minimum 20 years of experience in Polymers/Specialty Chemicals, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role focused on chemical synthesis. Global exposure to new applications and experience engaging with international customers and scientific studies for New Product Development. Proven track record in establishing and nurturing Centers of Excellence in areas such as synthesis, computational modeling, simulations, and reaction engineering. Excellent leadership skills combined with strong techno-commercial acumen.
