Job Purpose/Summary:

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Process Optimization Strategy: Develop and implement strategies for continuous improvement of all metallurgical processes, focusing on yield maximization, energy efficiency, and cost reduction.
  • Quality Management System (QMS): Establish, maintain, and continuously improve the plant's QMS, ensuring compliance with international standards (e.g., ISO 9001) and customer requirements.
  • Process Control Systems: Oversee the development, optimization, and maintenance of advanced process control systems (DCS, PLC, SCADA) to ensure stable and efficient operations.
  • Laboratory Management: Manage the central laboratory, ensuring accurate and timely analysis of raw materials, in-process samples, and final products. Oversee lab equipment calibration and maintenance.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Lead the analysis of process data, quality trends, and performance metrics to identify root causes of deviations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Technical Support: Provide expert technical support and guidance to operations and maintenance teams on process-related issues, quality control, and troubleshooting.
  • New Product/Process Development: Support R&D initiatives and the introduction of new products or process technologies, ensuring smooth integration into operations.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Process Engineers, Quality Control Chemists, and Lab Technicians. Foster a culture of scientific rigor and continuous improvement.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant quality standards, environmental regulations (e.g., material testing, waste characterization), and industry best practices.
  • Customer Feedback: Respond to customer quality complaints, conduct investigations, and implement corrective actions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Control Engineering, or relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Chemistry).

Required Experience:

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in process engineering, process control, or quality assurance roles within a heavy process industry, preferably copper metallurgy.
  • At least 5-7 years in a managerial or senior leadership role overseeing both process and quality functions.
  • Strong background in statistical process control (SPC) and advanced process control (APC).

Required Skills:

  • Expertise in metallurgical processes, process control methodologies, and quality management systems.
  • Strong analytical skills, statistical analysis, and data interpretation.
  • Proficiency in process simulation software, data historians, and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
