The Head - O&M Electrical is responsible for overseeing all operations and maintenance (O&M) activities related to the electrical systems of the power plant. This role ensures the reliability, efficiency, and safety of electrical equipment and systems while maintaining compliance with operational standards, environmental regulations, and budgetary constraints.
1. Electrical Operations & Maintenance Management:
Lead the electrical team in ensuring optimal performance and availability of electrical systems, including generators, transformers, switchgear, and control systems.
Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults, ensuring prompt resolution to maintain plant efficiency.
2. Compliance and Safety:
Ensure adherence to all safety, regulatory, and statutory requirements related to electrical systems.
Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
Promote a culture of safety and compliance across the team.
3. Team Leadership and Development:
Supervise and mentor electrical engineers, technicians, and support staff.
Facilitate training programs to enhance team competencies in advanced electrical technologies and practices.
Foster a collaborative and proactive work environment.
4. Project Management:
Lead and manage electrical modifications, upgrades, and expansion projects within the power plant.
Oversee the installation, commissioning, and testing of new electrical equipment.
Monitor project progress, budgets, and timelines.
5. Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to electrical systems and take corrective measures as needed.
Prepare and present periodic performance, maintenance, and budget reports to senior management.
Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless plant operations.
6. Vendor and Stakeholder Coordination:
Manage relationships with external vendors and contractors for electrical maintenance and supply of spares.
Ensure timely procurement and availability of electrical equipment and consumables.
7. Emergency Response:
Develop and implement contingency plans for electrical system failures.
Lead the team in responding to emergencies, ensuring minimal disruption to plant operations.
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s degree or specialization in Power Systems preferred).
12–15 years of experience in electrical operations and maintenance in power plants, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
In-depth knowledge of power generation, transmission, and distribution systems.
Expertise in electrical systems, including high-voltage equipment, PLCs, and SCADA systems.
Strong understanding of regulatory and safety standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE, NFPA).
Proficient in maintenance management software and tools.
Excellent leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.
