Ground Water Modeller

As a groundwater modeling expert at Mott MacDonald, your role will involve managing complex groundwater projects and components, demonstrating a strong understanding of water-related issues in the environment and mining sector. You will utilize excellent data interpretation skills to formulate hydrogeological conceptual models, along with conceptual and numerical models. Your responsibilities will include constructing, calibrating, and processing groundwater and contaminant transport models (primarily MODFLOW and MT3D) for various clients and purposes. Knowledge and experience in reporting are essential, as well as developing project-specific data management, analysis, and reporting needs. You will also be involved in mapping and managing datasets, utilizing analysis techniques to support projects, handling data gathering/management, querying, and performing analysis. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing figures and other deliverables, preparing draft plans/technical reports, including tables, metadata, and figures. Qualifications required for this role include a Bachelor's degree or higher in GIS, Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, water resources, or a related field, along with 6 to 8+ years of groundwater modeling experience. Experience creating finite difference analysis models, working with GIS file formats, public data, and within the environmental consulting industry is highly desirable. Programming knowledge in VBA, Python, or other languages is preferred. Proficiency in MODFLOW and Microsoft Office products, understanding of coordinate systems and projections, troubleshooting technology, and a solid grasp of modeling principles are also necessary. As a self-directed problem solver, you should be capable of successfully managing competing priorities.
