The Role

As one of many seniors in a collaborative full-stack engineering team you'll report to our expert Head of Engineering. Focus 80% on coding scalable services with Node.js (Express or similar), async workflows with tools like Temporal, Vercel edge functions, Cloudflare workers and PostgreSQL data layers, and frontend features in Next.js/React/TypeScript for seamless user flows. The rest: architecture decisions on full-stack boundaries, contracts, UI patterns, and abstractions for maintainable growth in a strong TDD environment.

What You'll Do

• Build Node.js/TypeScript microservices for video processing, analytics, and integrations scaling to 100K+ users
• Write clean, testable code using async/await, modules, and TypeScript for safety
• Using TS methods in Vercel, Cloudflare and other services to build performant workflows and edge functions
• Build all services against a Postgres DB
• Develop responsive UIs with React/TypeScript, leveraging hooks, context, and state management for complex creator dashboards
• Build and optimise Next.js applications with SSR/ISR for fast-loading pages handling real-time data from backend services
• Integrate frontend with backend APIs, ensuring end-to-end performance for features like video previews and analytics visualisations
• Create abstractions that simplify without bottlenecks
• Collaborate on designs; ship weekly without gates
• Tune critical paths for performance

What You Bring

• 10+ years Node.js in SaaS products; 5+ years TypeScript for production apps
• Expertise in microservices, event-driven systems; frameworks like Express
• Hands-on with AWS (ECS, SQS, RDS, S3, Lambda, SSM), PostgreSQL
• Testing proficiency (Jest/Mocha), TDD, Docker, CI/CD
• IaC with Terraform
• 5+ years with React/TypeScript in production apps; deep knowledge of hooks, reconciliation, and component lifecycle
• Hands-on Next.js experience with SSR/ISR/CSR at scale, deployed beyond Vercel for 50K+ users
• Proficiency in Shadcn or similar for efficient styling, plus optimisation tools like Lighthouse for performance
• Full-stack mindset: you've owned features from database schemas to UI renders in agile teams
• Startup experience scaling full-stack systems in agile teams
