Food Technologist

A food technologist in the FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) industry develops and improves food products, ensuring they are safe, high-quality, and meet consumer demand.

Key responsibilities include creating new recipes, optimizing existing ones, conducting sensory tests, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing production processes from raw material sourcing to final packaging. They work cross-functionally with marketing and production teams to launch new products and must be skilled in problem-solving, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.

Core responsibilities

Product development: Researching and developing new food products based on market trends and consumer preferences.

Product improvement: Modifying and optimizing existing formulations, recipes, and manufacturing processes.

Quality and safety assurance: Ensuring all products meet food safety and quality standards, including compliance with regulations, proper labeling, and managing safety controls.

Testing and analysis: Conducting shelf-life studies, sensory evaluations, and laboratory tests for contamination and additives.

Production management: Designing production processes, overseeing the selection of raw materials, and ensuring strict hygiene standards are met.

Cross-functional collaboration: Working with teams like marketing, production, and quality assurance on product launches and development.

Documentation: Managing product specifications, ingredient lists, and preparing reports based on testing results.

Preferable: 2-3 yrs of experience in FMCG
