As a Cost Optimization Consultant for an American multinational strategy and management consulting firm partnering with Flexing It, your primary role will involve identifying, evaluating, and implementing cost optimization initiatives within the manufacturing value chain of the snack food segment. You will collaborate closely with operations, procurement, supply chain, and finance teams to drive sustainable profitability by reducing production costs, enhancing process efficiency, and ensuring quality and compliance standards are met. Your key responsibilities will include conducting comprehensive cost analysis across production lines, focusing on areas such as raw material usage, labor costs, utilities, wastage, and overheads specific to snack food manufacturing. You will be tasked with identifying inefficiencies in cooking, frying, baking, packaging, and quality control processes, and recommending and implementing lean manufacturing and Six Sigma-based improvements to enhance operational efficiency. Furthermore, you will analyze raw material sourcing, explore alternative ingredients and packaging formats to identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining product shelf life and consumer appeal. Recommending energy efficiency measures, exploring alternative fuel usage, and optimizing equipment calibration to reduce electricity, gas, and water consumption across factories will be crucial aspects of your role. In addition, you will evaluate automation and digitalization opportunities such as IoT, sensors, and predictive maintenance to reduce manual dependency and optimize batch processes. Benchmarking costs and practices against industry leaders and global snack manufacturers to identify areas for improvement and collaborating with various stakeholders including plant heads, quality managers, procurement, R&D, and finance teams to validate opportunities, co-create implementation plans, and track ROI will also be part of your responsibilities. To excel in this role, you are expected to have at least 6-10 years of experience in FMCG manufacturing, particularly in snacks like chips, namkeen, and extruded snacks, with a strong background in plant operations and cost reduction initiatives. Deep understanding of production lines specific to snack foods, including frying, baking, seasoning, and packaging, along with a solid grasp of cost drivers such as raw materials, utilities, labor, and overheads is essential. Your proficiency in lean tools like Kaizen, 5S, TPM, and experience with Six Sigma projects focused on waste reduction and process efficiency will be valuable. You should also possess the ability to assess alternate sourcing options, packaging innovations, and negotiate with suppliers to reduce input costs. Understanding energy-intensive equipment and the capacity to recommend and implement cost-saving measures related to gas, electricity, and water will also be critical. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams across manufacturing, procurement, quality, and finance to implement optimization strategies effectively is key to succeeding in this role.,
