Job Description

The Accounting Clerk is responsible for supporting daily financial operations by ensuring accuracy in financial documentation, processing payments and invoices, and maintaining secure records. This role plays a critical part in the property's financial integrity and compliance with company policies. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and capable of working collaboratively across departments to ensure financial accuracy and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Documentation & Processing

  • Check figures, postings, and documents for mathematical and procedural accuracy
  • Classify, code, and summarize financial and numerical data using journals, ledgers, or computer systems
  • Prepare, review, reconcile, and issue bills, invoices, and account statements per company standards
  • Follow up on past-due accounts and vendor invoices until resolved or paid in full

Reporting & Auditing

  • Maintain, audit, and distribute statistical, financial, accounting, and payroll reports and tables
  • Assist in completing period-end closing procedures and generate required reports
  • Record, store, and analyze computerized financial information for internal use

Records & File Management

  • Organize, secure, and maintain all files, records, and cash equivalents per policy
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial data and proprietary information
  • Ensure compliance with company asset protection standards

Collaboration & Communication

  • Coordinate tasks with other departments to ensure smooth financial workflows
  • Serve as a departmental resource or mentor when needed
  • Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing
  • Answer telephones with appropriate etiquette and handle financial inquiries professionally

Team Support & Compliance

  • Support colleagues and departments in achieving shared goals
  • Report any workplace incidents or injuries immediately to the manager/supervisor
  • Adhere to company policies regarding uniform, grooming, behavior, and confidentiality
  • Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Experience: At least 1 year of related accounting, finance, or clerical experience
  • Supervisory Experience: Not required
  • Licenses/Certifications: None required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 10 pounds without assistance
  • Capable of standing, sitting, or moving for extended periods during the workday
