FINANCE AND BUDGET ASSISTANT

The Finance and Budget Assistant, FS-5, at the United Nations Peacekeeping Operations, Special Political Missions, and Service Centers reports to the Finance and Budget Officer. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, budgeting, or financial management. Candidates with a first-level university degree or higher require a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. Responsibilities include demonstrating sound knowledge of financial principles and practices, conducting independent research and analysis, formulating options, and presenting conclusions and recommendations. The Assistant will perform analysis, modeling, and data interpretation to support decision-making. Additionally, they will demonstrate commitment to gender equality in the workplace. Key competencies for this role include professionalism, planning & organizing, and teamwork. The successful candidate will develop clear goals, adjust priorities as required, allocate resources efficiently, and monitor plans effectively. They will work collaboratively with colleagues in a multi-cultural environment, valuing input from others and supporting team decisions. Fluency in English or French is required, as these are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. The evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise.
