Job Description

Role & responsibilities:

You will work with the Corporate Tax Team in our Gurgaon office. The team oversees the preparation of the firms corporate tax returns in all the countries where it operates, together with the preparation of the statutory financial statements for the operations in those countries.

The team also manages the corporate tax position, including our transfer pricing arrangements, and coordinates the responses to corporate tax audits.

This is an internal, non-client facing role to work in the US tax function comprising of 5-6 team members, which is part of Corporate Tax Team. You may have to work with the non-US tax team to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the foreign tax credits and other information.

The role involves executing various processes related to the compilation of global financial results for consolidated tax filings in the US. This includes preparing trial balances, quarterly federal projections, and tax forms using tax return filing software. Responsibilities also encompass preparing business apportionment factors for multi-state tax filings, reconciling these factors with tax books, and addressing state tax notices. Additional tasks include managing state tax projections, estimated tax payments, and extension filings for various states and cities, as well as providing information for state tax audits or assessments.

You will be corresponding with state tax auditors, advisors, and office finance teams to facilitate audits, tax return preparation, and the tax accounting process. Other duties include preparing GL account reconciliations, maintaining the fixed asset register, processing final journal entries for US tax books, documenting processes and work performed, and handling other tax-related tasks as assigned.

Your exceptional accounting, computer, and communication skills will be vital as you independently manage US tax projects with minimal supervision. There is potential for the role to expand over time.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Semi-qualified CA, or an MBA finance with at least 1-2 years of accounting and reconciliation experience in an MNC or an accounting firm
  • Chartered Accountant with 0-2 years (post-qualification)
  • Accounting and reconciliation experience in a reputed MNC or an accounting firm is desirable
  • Prior US tax compliance experience will be an added advantage
  • Strong accounting and basic tax knowledge
  • Confident and collaborative team player
  • Initiative and desire to excel 
  • Ability to develop relationships and network
  • Attention to detail; tenacious in following up
  • Ability to handle large amount of data
  • Excellent communication skills
