Job Description

Systra is seeking applications for the position of Field Engineer - OHE (Overhead Equipment). This role is crucial for overseeing the site evaluation, installation, testing, and commissioning of OHE systems for railway projects. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with engineering and safety standards, manage field operations, and coordinate effectively with various stakeholders to achieve project milestones.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Conduct site surveys and assessments to evaluate OHE system requirements and feasibility.
  • Collaborate with design teams to ensure alignment between project specifications, engineering standards, and OHE system designs.
  • Provide input into project timelines, cost estimates, and resource planning specific to OHE works.
  • Oversee and supervise the installation of OHE systems, ensuring strict compliance with engineering standards, project specifications, and all safety regulations.
  • Ensure the correct configuration of OHE equipment and systems as per the approved project plans.
  • Perform thorough testing and commissioning of installed OHE equipment, verifying functionality and performance.
  • Respond to and troubleshoot system failures or malfunctions in the field, implementing timely solutions.
  • Ensure all OHE works are carried out in accordance with company, industry, and safety regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure that safety protocols are meticulously followed during all installation and maintenance activities.
  • Monitor contractor performance to ensure adherence to safety standards and quality assurance for OHE works.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed reports of work completed, maintenance activities, and issues encountered.
  • Update project documentation, including technical drawings, OHE equipment specifications, and manuals.
  • Liaise with the project management team to provide regular updates on OHE progress, risks, and challenges.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure OHE project milestones are met.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to field teams during OHE project execution.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation and secure necessary approvals related to OHE works.
  • Conduct advance planning of railway blocks and related OHE works, coordinating with operations.
  • Maintain close coordination with the Railway Division for smooth execution and approvals.

Preferred Candidate Profile

Experience (Civil Engineering background with relevant OHE experience):

  • Having a total of 2 years experience, with a minimum of 1 year in a similar position and 1 year in eligible projects, for B.Tech (Civil) graduates.
  • OR, having a total of 5 years experience, with a minimum of 1 year in a similar position and 1 year in eligible projects, for Diploma (Civil) holders.
  • Communication: Excellent written and oral English communication skills.
  • Cultural Adaptability: Ability to work within a culturally diverse organization, recognizing and respecting differences.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to problem solve, especially in an integrated project delivery environment, applying industry best practices.
  • Leadership: Self-motivated individual with outstanding leadership skills and the ability to influence without authority.
