Fellowship in Sleep Medicine

The Fellowship in Sleep Medicine (Hospital-Based) is an advanced clinical training program designed to develop specialists with expertise in the diagnosis, management, and multidisciplinary care of sleep-related disorders. This fellowship offers structured, hands-on exposure to sleep study interpretation, clinical assessment, therapeutic interventions, and patient counseling under the guidance of experienced sleep medicine clinicians.

The program focuses on building strong clinical judgment, practical competence in sleep diagnostics, and confidence in managing a wide range of sleep disorders including insomnia, sleep-disordered breathing, circadian rhythm disturbances, and parasomnias.

Role & responsibilities:

• Participate in clinical assessment and evaluation of patients with sleep disorders
• Conduct and interpret polysomnography, actigraphy, and other diagnostic sleep studies
• Assist in developing individualized treatment plans including behavioral therapy, CPAP titration, and pharmacotherapy under supervision
• Monitor treatment responses and adjust care plans accordingly
• Engage in patient education and counseling related to sleep hygiene, lifestyle, and therapeutic adherence
• Participate in daily clinical rounds, case discussions, and sleep lab review meetings
• Maintain accurate patient records, sleep study logs, and diagnostic reports
• Attend multidisciplinary meetings involving pulmonology, neurology, psychiatry, and respiratory therapy
• Participate in academic sessions, journal clubs, and evidence-based clinical discussions
• Attend simulation-based training and workshops in sleep study interpretation and management
• Ensure strict adherence to patient safety protocols, ethical clinical standards, and hospital guidelines
• Support research activities and clinical audits related to sleep medicine

Preferred candidate profile:

• MD / DNB in Pulmonology / Psychiatry / Neurology / Internal Medicine (mandatory)
• Prior exposure to sleep medicine, respiratory disorders, or clinical diagnostics preferred
• Strong interest in clinical evaluation and management of sleep disorders
• Ability to interpret complex diagnostic data such as polysomnography and sleep metrics
• Good clinical judgment and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and patient counseling skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary clinical teams including respiratory therapists, psychologists, and sleep technicians
• Commitment to professionalism, ethical care, and patient-centered clinical practice
• Willingness to participate in academic, clinical research, and continuous professional development
