Fellowship in Interventional Pulmonology

The Fellowship in Interventional Pulmonology (Hospital-Based) is an advanced clinical training program designed to develop specialists skilled in state-of-the-art pulmonary interventions. This fellowship equips doctors with expertise in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for complex respiratory conditions using bronchoscopic and minimally invasive pulmonary techniques, under the supervision of experienced interventional pulmonologists.

The program emphasizes clinical assessment, procedural competence, patient management, and multidisciplinary care in high-acuity respiratory settings.

Role & responsibilities:

• Assist and participate in interventional pulmonology procedures such as flexible and rigid bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS), airway stenting, and pleural interventions
• Perform and interpret pulmonary function assessments, imaging, and bronchoscopic findings under guidance
• Support diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for airway obstructions, pleural diseases, and complex lung pathology
• Engage in pre-procedure assessment and post-procedure care planning
• Participate in daily clinical rounds, multidisciplinary meetings, and case reviews
• Monitor patients intra- and post-procedural status, document findings, and update clinical records
• Attend simulation-based training and hands-on workshops on advanced pulmonary techniques
• Participate in academic activities including case presentations, journal clubs, and evidence-based learning sessions
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including critical care, radiology, anesthesia, and respiratory therapy
• Ensure strict adherence to patient safety, infection control, and ethical clinical practices
• Support sleep study interpretation and integration with pulmonology protocols where applicable

Preferred candidate profile:

• MD / DNB in Pulmonology / Respiratory Medicine (mandatory)
• Prior exposure to bronchoscopy, pulmonary interventions, or ICU care preferred
• Strong interest in advanced pulmonary diagnostics and procedural techniques
• Good clinical judgment and problem-solving ability
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and procedural aptitude
• Effective communication skills and collaborative teamwork approach
• Commitment to professionalism, ethical practice, and patient safety
• Willingness to participate in academic and clinical research activities
