Position Title: Fabric Merchant

Reports to: Senior Purchasing Manager

Location: Gurugram-HR

Job Summary:

The Fabric Merchant is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing fabric materials. This role involves working closely with suppliers, overseeing dyeing and printing processes, and ensuring quality standards are met.

Key Responsibilities:

Purchase Budget Management:

· Develop and manage the fabric purchasing budget.

· Monitor spending and identify cost-saving opportunities.

· Source and Supply Management:

Identify and evaluate fabric suppliers.

· Negotiate terms, pricing, and contracts.

· Maintain strong supplier relationships.

· Vendor Reconciliation and Quality Management:

Reconcile vendor accounts and manage credit cycles.

· Monitor and enforce fabric quality standards.

· Resolve quality issues with suppliers.

· Order Placement and Material Receipt:

Place fabric orders based on production needs.

· Verify invoices and receive materials.

· Inspect materials for quality standards.

· Follow-Up and Quality Assurance:

Follow up on dyeing and printing quality.

· Ensure processes meet required standards.

· Track orders and ensure timely delivery.

· Purchase Order Reconciliation:

Reconcile purchase orders with received materials and invoices.

· Maintain accurate transaction records.

· Vendor Coordination and Job Work Status:

Coordinate with vendors on job work status and timelines.

· Ensure timely completion of dyeing and printing processes.

· Inspection and Quality Control:

Conduct fabric inspections to meet quality standards.

· Maintain detailed inspection records.

· Inventory Management:

Manage fabric inventory and stock levels.

· Handle replacement of regular fabrics to minimize waste.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in Textile Science, Fashion Merchandising, or a related field.

· 3-5 years of experience in fabric sourcing and purchasing.

· Knowledge of fabric types, dyeing, and finishing techniques.

· Strong negotiation and communication skills.

Working Conditions:

· Office-based with occasional travel to supplier sites.

· Possible extended hours during peak production periods.

Pay: ₹45,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
