Engineering Manager (Ruby on Rails)

Summary

PlanSource is a high-growth software company headquartered in Orlando, Florida with engineering offices in Orlando, Salt Lake City, and Bangalore. We are hiring for Director, Software Engineering in our Bangalore office to contribute to our rapid product development. Our engineers work collaboratively to ensure that our products are stable, reliable, scalable and responsive to our customers needs.

This role is responsible for strategizing, planning, and implementing software products, with a specific focus on integrating Machine Learning (ML) and Generative AI/Agentic AI features into the offerings. The role encompasses ownership of all aspects of technical delivery, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and with the highest quality standards.

The position involves managing and directing teams comprising application architects, software engineers, and quality assurance engineers. It also requires close collaboration with globally distributed Product Owners, Product Managers, and Business Analysts.

This role is expected to positively impact the overall delivery of information technology as part of the CoEs mission.

About You

Responsibilities:

• Serve as the technical manager and authority over multiple development teams, initiating organization-level initiatives and driving team or product imperatives with full ownership.
• Accountable for architectural decisions and development of features, including the integration of Machine Learning (ML), Generative AI, and Agentic AI capabilities into products.
• Create a technical vision and strategy for the organization that aligns with business objectives and incorporates advanced AI-driven innovations.
• Lead discussions and decisions on design, architecture, processes, and development, ensuring the inclusion of cutting-edge AI technologies.
• Manage and execute against project plans and delivery commitments within an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Develop processes, mechanisms, and tools that enhance the delivery of programs, especially those involving ML and AI-driven features.
• Own all operational metrics and provide support for the software developed by your teams, with a focus on innovation and quality.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders, including product management and executive teams, to define strategy and requirements for AI-enhanced products.
• Effectively manage ambiguity and competing priorities while staying focused on both short-term and long-term goals.
• Drive continuous improvements in software engineering practices, particularly in areas related to AI and ML development, across engineering teams.
• Recruit, hire, mentor, and coach software development engineers at various experience levels to build a team capable of delivering innovative AI-driven solutions.
• Earn trust through regular communication with senior management on status, risks, and change control, demonstrating a commitment to delivering transformative AI-enhanced technologies.

Skill & Experience:

• Bachelors degree in engineering, computer science or related field
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive application development
• Over 5 years of hands-on experience in web application development using Ruby on Rails (RoR), JavaScript, JQuery, ReactJS, and MySQL, with a proven ability to design and implement innovative solutions integrating Machine Learning (ML), Generative AI, and Agentic AI features to elevate product capabilities and performance.
• 2+ years of management/leadership experience in software development
• Familiarity with AWS or Azure cloud
• Strong technical thinking and demonstrated ability to lead software design and coding
• Polished communication skills, broad technical knowledge, and high self-confidence
• Ability to demonstrate and lead others in sound software development practices and techniques
• Working knowledge of Jira, Jenkins, Docker, GitHub and overall Devops experience
