Engineering Manager (API ops & UI)

As an engineering leader at Kong, you will play a crucial role in managing the teams responsible for API Ops, LLM Ops, and UI development for Kong's API Management suite. This role involves working from the office in Bangalore, India, in a hybrid setup with three days in the office and two days remote. You will be responsible for building and leading high-performing engineering teams that consistently deliver results. Your duties will include attracting, mentoring, and retaining top engineering talent, ensuring technical success, and maintaining industry-leading security, quality, performance, and reliability across your teams. Additionally, you will collaborate with product leadership to define strategies, roadmaps, and objectives for managed gateways. - Build and lead high-performing engineering teams - Attract, mentor, and retain top engineering talent - Ensure technical success and industry-leading security, quality, performance, and reliability - Architect and operate software systems to maintain high reliability - Drive innovation for API Ops and LLM Ops teams - Collaborate with product leadership to define strategies and roadmaps - Oversee multiple agile workstreams to ensure timely project execution - Interface with customers and field teams to gather feedback for product improvements - Contribute to enhanced revenue growth for Kong - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field - 4+ years of experience in engineering management - 5+ years of experience in SaaS development with high reliability - Strong expertise in networking concepts and public cloud network architectures - Proven track record in bringing new SaaS offerings to market - Hands-on experience with microservices architectures and distributed systems - Expertise in monitoring and observability practices - Familiarity with public cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure - Exceptional verbal and written communication skills Kong is a cloud-native API platform that aims to enable companies worldwide to become "API-first" and accelerate AI adoption securely.
