As a Principal Software Engineer at Chubb, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of scalable, cloud-based applications for claims systems. Your role involves providing technical leadership throughout the software development lifecycle, ensuring secure and high-performing solutions aligned with business objectives. You will work on modernizing claims processing systems, developing cloud-native solutions, and migrating legacy systems to serverless architectures. Collaboration with claims business stakeholders and mentoring developers are key aspects of this role. **Key Responsibilities:** - Lead the design and delivery of modern claims processing systems and self-service portals. - Build robust, cloud-native solutions to support claims automation and operational efficiency. - Drive the migration of legacy systems to serverless, API-driven architectures. - Develop applications for processing large data sets and implementing centralized logging. - Collaborate with claims stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions. - Mentor and guide a team of developers towards technical excellence and continuous learning. - Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture standards and data governance policies. **Functional Competencies:** - Experience in designing self-service portals for customer engagement. - Familiarity with Rule-Based Engines for claims adjudication. - Ability to translate complex business requirements into user-centric technical solutions. - Strong communication and collaboration skills with claims operations and business stakeholders. **Technical Competencies:** - 15+ years of software engineering experience, including 5 years in a leadership role. - Expertise in insurance domain, specifically in Claims systems and self-service capabilities. - Proficiency in Microsoft Technology Stack, SQL Server, Cosmos DB, REST API development, and Microservices architecture. - Experience with cloud platforms, serverless architectures, CI/CD, and DevOps practices. - Knowledge of Spring Batch Framework and ELK stack for logging and data processing. **Preferred Qualifications:** - Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or related field. - Knowledge of insurance regulatory frameworks and standards. - Exposure to claims fraud detection, analytics, or AI/ML-driven claims processing.
