Engineer Trainee

Role Overview

The Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) at Sunshell Power will undergo structured on-the-job training across various solar project functions. The role is designed to build strong technical foundations in solar power plant design, installation, commissioning, and operations, while preparing the trainee for future engineering responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Execution Support

• Assist in the installation, testing, and commissioning of rooftop and ground-mount solar projects.
  
• Monitor site progress and ensure adherence to quality, safety, and engineering standards.
  
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors for daily work activities.
  

2. Technical Documentation

• Prepare project reports, site surveys, checklists, and daily progress documentation.
  
• Support in drafting technical drawings, SLDs, and layouts (for design GETs).
  

3. Site Survey & Assessment

• Conduct shadow analysis, load analysis, and feasibility assessments.
  
• Collect field data and measurements required for system sizing and design.
  

4. Design & Engineering Support

• Assist the design team with PVsyst simulations, AutoCAD drawings, cable sizing, and technical BOQ preparation.
  
• Evaluate components such as inverters, modules, cables, and protection devices.
  

5. Operations & Maintenance Assistance

• Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  
• Perform remote monitoring checks and prepare performance reports.
  
• Ensure inverter uptime, string health, and safety compliance.
  

6. Coordination & Communication

• Communicate effectively with internal teams (project, procurement, design, O&M).
  
• Liaise with clients for basic updates, documentation, and site requirements.
  

Key Skills Required

• Basic understanding of solar PV systems and electrical fundamentals.
  
• Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint.
  
• Knowledge of AutoCAD / PVsyst (added advantage).
  
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  
• Good communication and willingness to learn.
  
• Ability to work at project sites and adapt to field conditions.
