Endoscopy Technician

The Endoscopy Technician will assist doctors during endoscopic procedures, prepare and sterilize equipment, handle patient preparation, and ensure smooth functioning of the endoscopy unit. The role requires technical knowledge, patient care skills, and strong attention to sterilization processes.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:1. Procedure Assistance

• Assist gastroenterologists/physicians during endoscopic procedures (EGD, Colonoscopy, Sigmoidoscopy, Bronchoscopy, etc.).
• Prepare procedure rooms and ensure all required equipment is ready.
• Handle biopsy samples and label them correctly.

2. Equipment Handling

• Set up, operate, and troubleshoot endoscopy equipment.
• Ensure proper functioning of scopes, processors, light sources, and monitors.
• Report equipment issues immediately to maintenance/biomedical team.

3. Sterilization & Infection Control

• Perform cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of endoscopy scopes and accessories.
• Follow strict infection control protocols and maintain aseptic environment.
• Maintain records of disinfection cycles and equipment usage.

4. Patient Care

• Explain procedures to patients and assist with preparation.
• Monitor patients before and after the procedure.
• Provide comfort and ensure privacy and safety.

5. Documentation & Inventory

• Maintain procedure logs, equipment usage reports, and sterilization records.
• Track and manage inventory of endoscopy supplies and consumables.
• Ensure availability of required instruments and materials.

6. Coordination

• Coordinate with nursing staff, physicians, and support teams for smooth workflow.
• Assist in scheduling and organizing endoscopic procedures.

Required Qualifications:

• Diploma in Endoscopy Technology / OT Technician / Nursing / Paramedical
• 1–3 years experience in Endoscopy or OT assistance
• Knowledge of endoscopic instruments and sterilization protocols

Skills Required:

• Good technical understanding of scopes and equipment
• Strong attention to detail
• Good communication and patient-handling skills
• Ability to work under pressure
• Knowledge of infection control guidelines
