ob Summary

The Endoscopy Technician supports physicians and nurses during endoscopic procedures by preparing and maintaining equipment, ensuring a sterile environment, and assisting with patient care. The technician plays a key role in maintaining procedure flow and ensuring patient safety

Role & responsibilities

Prepare procedure rooms and ensure all endoscopic equipment and instruments are properly sterilized and functioning.
Assist physicians and nurses during endoscopic procedures such as colonoscopies, gastroscopies, bronchoscopies, and more.
Clean, disinfect, and sterilize scopes and equipment according to hospital protocol and manufacturer guidelines.
Maintain accurate logs and documentation for equipment maintenance, scope tracking, and patient data.
Monitor inventory of supplies and restock procedure rooms as necessary.
Transport specimens to the lab as required, following proper chain-of-custody procedures.
Ensure patient comfort and safety before, during, and after procedures under the supervision of clinical staff.
Troubleshoot and report any equipment malfunctions or concerns to the appropriate personnel.
Comply with all infection control, safety, and patient privacy (HIPAA) regulations.

Preferred candidate profile

Prior experience as an endoscopy technician or in a clinical setting is preferred.
Knowledge of GI/endoscopy procedures and sterilization techniques is a plus.
Completion of a certified Endoscopy Technician program preferred.
Certified Endoscopy Technician (CET) or Gastroenterology Tech (GTS) certification preferred.
Knowledge of infection control and sterile processing standards.
Technological proficiency in handling medical equipment and documentation systems.
