About The Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled Emergency Medicine Physician (Emergency Medical Officer) to join the on-site emergency team at a busy hospital in Cuttack, Odisha. The role focuses on rapid assessment, stabilization, and management of critically ill and injured patients across all age groups, working 8-hour clinical shifts on a rotational roster.Role & Responsibilities
- Lead initial assessment, resuscitation, and stabilization of medical, surgical, trauma, and pediatric emergencies in the Emergency Department (ED).
- Perform emergency procedures including airway management, intubation, central/ peripheral vascular access, chest tube insertion, and emergency ultrasounds (POCUS) as indicated.
- Coordinate timely referrals and handovers with specialty teams, critical care, radiology, and operating theatre to expedite patient care.
- Manage ED documentation, treatment plans, and discharge/transfer summaries in compliance with hospital protocols and medico-legal standards.
- Participate in triage, acute clinical audits, morbidity & mortality reviews, and continuous quality-improvement initiatives for ED workflows.
- Maintain readiness of emergency equipment, ensure infection-control compliance, and contribute to emergency drills and staff training.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
- MBBS with MD/DNB in Emergency Medicine or MBBS with demonstrable emergency department experience and competency.
- Valid medical registration as required by local/state regulations and eligibility to practice in Odisha.
- Current ACLS and BLS certification with hands-on experience in emergency resuscitation and trauma management.
- Comfortable working on-site in a fast-paced ED, undertaking 8-hour shifts on a rotational roster (day/night/weekend coverage as required).
Preferred
- ATLS certification or equivalent trauma life-support training.
- Experience with point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) and hospital electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
