The Email Code/Data Developer is responsible for building, maintaining, and optimizing email templates and data-driven content modules within marketing automation platforms. This role requires strong technical proficiency in scripting, database management, and email development best practices to support dynamic, personalized campaigns that drive engagement and conversions.
Responsibilities
- Design and code responsive HTML email templates.
- Conduct cross-client and cross-device testing to ensure consistent rendering.
- Maintain compliance with brand guidelines and email deliverability standards.
- Build and update modular email components using Marketo content blocks.
- Develop and maintain Velocity scripts and tokens for dynamic content personalization.
- Collaborate with marketing stakeholders to implement segmentation logic and campaign triggers.
- Manage and document email-related data flows, including syncing member data across systems like Marketo and MemberMaint.
- Ensure data integrity and governance across platforms including Tealium, BigQuery, and SQL Server.
- Create and maintain documentation for scripts, tokens, and data mappings.
- Automate repetitive marketing tasks using Python and SQL to reduce manual workload.
- Support integration of backend systems with marketing platforms for real-time updates and event-triggered communications.
- Design and implement automated workflows for legal data deletion requests, including form intake, system-wide data checks, deletion execution, and status reporting.
- Develop solutions to ingest customer lists and update Marketo records with personalized promo codes using Member ID to Lead ID mapping.
- Create verification and audit reports for data updates and deletions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Integrate backend systems and APIs to enable real-time data synchronization and automated marketing actions.
- Collaborate with Legal, Marketing, and Data teams to ensure secure and compliant handling of customer data.
Requirements:
- 3-5+ years of experience optimizing email templates and working with automation platforms
- Proficiency in HTML/CSS for email development.
- Experience with Marketo, including Velocity scripting and token creation (a plus).
- Strong SQL skills for data querying and transformation.
- Strong Excel skills for report pulling and data management.
- Familiarity with Python for automation and data manipulation.
