Electrical Project Engineer

Job Summary:

Responsible for execution and supervision of electrical installations at site for greenfield (new) and brownfield (modification/expansion) industrial projects. The role involves managing contractors, ensuring safety compliance, coordinating power infrastructure, and supporting energization and commissioning activities.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Site Execution & Installation

• Supervise installation of HT/LT panels, transformers, DG sets, switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, UPS

systems, lighting, earthing, and cable trays.

• Ensure proper laying, glanding, termination, and testing of HT and LT cables as per standards.

• Interface with civil and mechanical teams for cable trench routing, equipment foundation

readiness, and electrical clearances.

2. Greenfield & Brownfield Focus

• For Greenfield Projects: Execute complete electrical setup including substations, plant

electrification, utility power, lighting, and automation infrastructure.

• For Brownfield Projects: Plan shutdown jobs, retrofits, load enhancements, and upgrades

without disrupting existing operations.

3. Contractor & Vendor Management

• Monitor manpower and material availability; track progress and escalate delays.

• Review vendor drawings and BOMs; ensure timely inspections and clearances for equipment.

• Coordinate with OEMs for equipment installation, SAT, and commissioning support.

4. Quality, Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance to IS/IEC codes, project specifications, and safety regulations.

• Participate in inspection and testing: IR, insulation resistance, hi-pot, relay testing, earthing

checks, etc.

• Ensure safe execution with lockout-tagout (LOTO), PTW system, and electrical hazard

management.

5. Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare daily/weekly progress reports and maintain inspection records and red-marked

drawings.

• Ensure proper documentation for statutory approvals (CEA, CEIG, etc.) and project handover

dossiers.

• Coordinate energization planning and commissioning punch list closure.

Key Skills Required:

• Strong understanding of HT/LT systems, industrial power distribution, and control systems.

• Familiarity with electrical codes (IS, IEC), safety standards, and earthing/grid design.

• Ability to read electrical SLDs, layout drawings, cable schedules, and relay coordination.

• Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and exposure to project scheduling tools (MS

Project/Primavera).

• Coordination with utility companies, statutory authorities, and cross-functional project teams.
