Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer

Role & responsibilities

Reporting to the Resident Engineer, his job responsibilities shall include but not be limited to the following:

• Assist the Resident Engineer in ensuring that all contractual requirements are met by the Contractor including those in relation to quality of the works, safety and environmental protection.
• Standing supervision of installation of all electrical & instrument installations to ensure maintenance of quality control and that work carried out is in strict compliance with specifications and as per approved drawings / vendor or manufacturers recommendations and provide recommendations for acceptance of satisfactorily completed works.
• Review & plan with Resident Engineers of the respective Contract Packages to ensure proper coordination between civil and E & I work to avoid need for future corrective actions.
• Monitor and ensure that approved quality assurance system, safety plan and environmental monitoring system are in place and adhered to by the Contractor.
• Review all E&I plant & equipment delivered to site to ensure only approved makes are delivered in compliance with the specifications. Ensure all factory test documentations are in order and in place.
• Assist the Resident Engineer in compiling, maintaining and safekeeping all certificates, calibrations, test records, material delivery records and any other QA/QC documentation with respect to all E&I plant & equipment used in the Works.
• Assist in monitoring daily work progress and maintain daily site records of E&I installations.
• Attend all on site testing and factory inspections/acceptance tests when required or requested. Recommend for approval all satisfactorily completed tests.
• Ensure all QA/QC documentation with respect to E&I equipment & installations including checklists, are completed, endorsed by the respective parties and compiled
• Carry out timely reporting of any inconsistencies in execution of the works to the Resident Engineer for appropriate corrective action to be carried out.
• Assist in verification of statements submitted by the Contractor, with respect to items of E&I works, for the purpose of interim and final payment certificates.
• Ensure all as-built information are adequately and properly recorded. Check and verify as-built drawings prepared by the Contractor.
• Assist in preparation of operation and maintenance manuals.

Preferred candidate profile

Graduate in Electrical Engineering with minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering consultancy and having directly supervised Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) installations in Water and/or Sewage Treatment Plants and Pumping Stations.
