Facilitate village level peer education on modern cattle management practices where animal rearing is promoted on the same land management unit as agricultural crops and agroforestry or dedicated plots. - Facilitate family level livestock management plan development (herd size, breed improvement, feed, health etc.) and implementation to optimize utilization of their land. - Guide farmers on maintaining optimum number of animals based on breeding plan and suggested performance goal. - Guide farmers on appropriate feeding practices required for breeding animals including mineral supplementation etc. - Coordinate and closely work with village level agricultural/livestock development agents & technicians in implementing livestock management activities including animal health. - Mentor farmers to understand the reproduction and fertility cycles of the animals; and seek the AI service when the chance of impregnating is high. - Store, travel with, thaw, and prepare semen for insemination correctly to maximize the chance of impregnation; - Perform artificial insemination procedures and pregnancy checks on cows of the target farmers. - Follow protocols pertaining to biosecurity, safety, hygiene and animal welfare. - Follow the prescribed procedures in handling semen straw and in conducting insemination. - Train and mentor beekeepers on apiary site selection and preparation, transitional hive construction and inspection, colony multiplication and transferring, bee forage development, disease and pest control, harvest and post-harvest handling. - Under the guidance of Livestock Expert, conduct other livestock management and related activities.
