Electrical designer

Job Overview: The Electrical Designer is responsible for designing electrical systems and creating detailed drawings and schematics in accordance with project specifications, local codes, and regulations. They work closely with engineers, architects, and other professionals to ensure that electrical systems are integrated seamlessly into the overall design.
Key Responsibilities:Designing Electrical SystemsDevelop electrical layouts, power distribution systems, lighting, and circuit designs.Create schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, and panel schedules.Select appropriate electrical components and equipment based on project needs.Collaboration and CoordinationCollaborate with electrical engineers to ensure designs meet project requirements and codes.Coordinate with other disciplines (mechanical, structural, architectural) to ensure systems work together seamlessly.Review contractor submittals and assist in resolving any design-related issues during construction.Drafting and DocumentationCreate accurate, detailed electrical drawings and documentation using CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.).Ensure all electrical design documentation is up-to-date, clear, and easily interpretable.Code Compliance and SafetyEnsure that all designs comply with local electrical codes, industry standards, and safety regulations.Perform system calculations and analyze designs to confirm they meet performance and safety standards.Site Visits and InspectionsPerform site visits to assess existing conditions, measure spaces, and ensure the accuracy of design.Assist with troubleshooting and resolving electrical issues during construction and installation phases.Project SupportAssist project managers and engineers with project cost estimates, timelines, and progress tracking.Provide technical support for construction teams during installation and commissioning.Skills and Qualifications:Education: Typically a degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Drafting, or a related field.Experience: At least 2-5 years of experience in electrical design or a related field, with proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.).Technical Skills: Knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulations (NEC, IEC, etc.).Attention to Detail: Ability to work with precision and accuracy while meeting deadlines.Communication Skills: Strong ability to communicate technical information clearly, both verbally and in writing.
