Job Summary

The Economics Professor is responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in economics, conducting scholarly research, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and contributing to academic service. The role involves mentoring students, developing curriculum, and actively participating in departmental and institutional activities.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching

• Deliver high-quality lectures and seminars in economics (e.g., microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, development economics, international economics).
• Design and update course syllabi in line with academic standards.
• Assess student performance through exams, assignments, and projects.
• Mentor and advise students on academic and career development.
  

Research

• Conduct independent and collaborative research in economics.
• Publish research findings in reputable academic journals.
• Present research at conferences, seminars, and workshops.
• Seek external research funding and grants, where applicable.
  

Academic Service

• Participate in departmental meetings and committees.
• Contribute to curriculum development and academic planning.
• Engage in peer review, accreditation, and quality assurance activities.
• Support outreach, extension, or community engagement initiatives.
  

Required Qualifications

• PhD in Economics or a closely related field (required).
• Strong background in economic theory and quantitative methods.
• Demonstrated teaching ability at the university level.
