Driver Job Description

A Driver is responsible for safely transporting passengers, goods, or materials from one location to another. This role can vary depending on the industry—ranging from delivery services and logistics to personal transportation or public transit.

Key Responsibilities

Operate vehicles safely and efficiently following traffic laws
Plan routes using GPS or maps to ensure timely arrivals
Load and unload cargo or assist passengers as needed
Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of the vehicle
Perform routine vehicle checks (fuel, oil, tire pressure)
Keep accurate records of mileage, fuel usage, and deliveries
Communicate professionally with clients, dispatchers, or team members
Report any accidents, delays, or mechanical issues promptly

Qualifications

Valid driver’s license appropriate for the vehicle type
Clean driving record with no recent violations
Familiarity with local roads and traffic patterns
Ability to lift and carry heavy items (if required)
Basic mechanical knowledge for minor repairs
Good communication and time-management skills

Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent
Prior driving experience preferred (1–3 years)
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) may be required for heavy vehicles
