Job Title: Driver (NGO Support for Children with Cancer)
Location: Mumbai
Job Purpose:
The primary responsibility of the driver is to ensure safe and efficient transportation of our beneficiaries, children suffering from cancer, between our centres and the hospital. The driver is also responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of the vehicles, adhering to traffic rules, and ensuring that the vehicles are well-equipped for the needs of the passengers.
Key Responsibilities
1. Safe Transportation:
· Transport beneficiaries safely and responsibly from the centre to the hospital and back using official vehicles.
· Ensure the comfort and safety of passengers, addressing any concerns they may have during the journey.
· Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations to ensure the safety of passengers and the public.
2. Vehicle Maintenance and Cleanliness:
· Periodically clean the interior and exterior of the vehicle(s) to maintain a hygienic environment.
· Perform routine checks on oil, water, brakes, tyre pressure, battery levels, headlights, and bodywork for dents or damage.
· Ensure the vehicle is equipped with necessary items such as vomit bags, functioning air conditioning, and operational cameras.
· Report any vehicle damage, malfunctions, or issues highlighted by families to the reporting manager promptly.
3. Documentation and Log Maintenance:
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date vehicle logs, recording all trips, maintenance checks, and fuel consumption as per organizational standards.
· Keep all vehicle-related documents in good condition and ensure they are readily available when needed.
4. Official Errands and Assistance:
· Run errands for the project, program, or office.
· Assist in transporting goods and materials as required.
· Provide support to other office tasks when there are no scheduled trips.
5. Knowledge Management:
· Stay informed about current road conditions, accessible routes, and locations by using all available information, including radio news.
· Share updated information on traffic conditions with other drivers to ensure efficient transportation.
6. Emergency Handling and Reporting:
· Immediately report any involvement of the vehicle in accidents, damage, loss, or theft of vehicle fittings to the reporting manager.
· Take necessary actions during emergencies to ensure the safety and well-being of passengers.
7. Additional Duties:
· Assist colleagues as needed in the project, program, or office when there is no travel pending.
· Carry out any other office work as requested by the reporting manager.
Requirements:
Education and Experience:
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. 12th Pass.
Minimum of [3 - 5] years of experience in a similar role, preferably within an NGO or healthcare setting.
Reading and writing of local languages and preferably English.
Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and minor repairs
Skills and Competencies:
Strong commitment to the safety and well-being of passengers.
Excellent driving skills and a thorough understanding of traffic laws and regulations.
Good communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with beneficiaries and colleagues.
Ability to stay calm and handle emergency situations efficiently.
Reliable, punctual, and able to manage time effectively.
Work Environment:
The role requires frequent travel between the centre and the hospital.
The driver must be prepared to work flexible hours, including early mornings, night shifts, late evenings, and weekends as needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹22,000.00 per month
