Position Objective:

This role will manage a mid to principal portfolio of PETA India's Vanguard Society members including the creation of recruitment, engagement and development plans to steward those giving at the desired levels on their philanthropic journey.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Implement and develop major gifts fundraising strategies for High Net Worth Individuals (HNIs), Trusts and Foundations
• Manage and maintain a portfolio of mid to high-level prospects and develop strategies to increase their giving
• Identify high-value funding opportunities for PETA India and develop donor recruitment strategies from individuals, Trusts and Foundations
• Create effective funding proposals and asks to present to donors and donor prospects
• Develop personal engagement and stewardship plans for donors, using knowledge and insights to plan appropriate communications to better engage donors and increase giving
• Communicate with donors through face-to-face meetings, virtual meetings, and by phone, email and mail communication, making sound judgements on what's most appropriate
• Develop and implement donor-specific strategic communication plans by phone, email, and mail. These plans will include updates on PETA India's progress and victories, messages of gratitude, invitations to events, and requests for increased financial support.
• Acknowledge, thank and recognise donors appropriate to their level of support, and work with the PETA India finance department to ensure restricted gifts are appropriately allocated
• Regularly qualify new prospects and donors based on their capacity, inclination, affinity, and readiness to give.
• Create and attend networking opportunities to engage HNWIs across India with a view to funding PETA India's work
• Handle assigned duties toward the planning, execution and success of PETA India's fundraising events
• Create, track and report on budgets and income targets for a portfolio of major donors
• Ensure that database records are updated promptly. Document pertinent information (meetings, correspondence, notes, etc.) to enhance and develop PETA India's donor database.
• Coordinate and collaborate with other teams and colleagues both in India and other PETA entities, including legacy, direct response, data, prospect research and communications, to enhance the donor experience and ensure maximisation of opportunities and efficient processes.
• Stay up-to-date on philanthropy techniques and methods used in the nonprofit sector
• Conduct oneself in a professional, friendly and truthful manner to donors.
• Work with key PETA India staff to find ways to engage donors in our mission
• Maintain a clear understanding of and the ability to articulate PETA India's objectives as well as details of specific PETA India programmes
• Perform and manage any other projects or duties requested by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

• Significant and demonstrable experience in soliciting gifts from HNIs
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Thorough knowledge of animal rights issues and PETA India campaigns
• Demonstrated exceptional attention to detail
• Demonstrated ability to prepare professional business communications
• Proven ability to interact with donors in a professional and personable manner
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively
• Proven ability to take initiative and work independently
• Commitment to PETA India's objectives
