Job Description

  • Role:

The Duty Medical Officer (DMO) in the Gynaecology department is responsible for providing timely and efficient medical care to patients, supporting gynaecologists in their clinical duties, managing emergencies, monitoring patient progress, and ensuring seamless communication between the clinical team and hospital management.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:Patient Care:

  • Conduct initial patient assessments and record medical histories.
  • Monitor gynaecology patients regularly and update the consultant on patient progress.
  • Attend to emergency cases in the Gynaecology department promptly.
  • Ensure proper administration of prescribed medications and treatments.

Support to Gynaecologists:

  • Assist in outpatient clinics, ward rounds, and procedures.
  • Prepare patients for surgeries and assist during minor procedures if required.
  • Coordinate diagnostic tests and follow up on results.

Emergency Management:

  • Provide immediate care in obstetric and gynaecological emergencies (e.g., ectopic pregnancy, pre-eclampsia, postpartum hemorrhage).
  • Stabilize critical patients and ensure timely escalation to senior consultants.

Documentation & Compliance:

  • Maintain accurate patient records, reports, and discharge summaries.
  • Ensure documentation is in line with hospital protocols and legal requirements.

Communication & Coordination:

  • Liaise with nurses, laboratory, pharmacy, and other support departments to ensure smooth patient care.
  • Communicate patient status and treatment plans effectively with the healthcare team and family members.

Infection Control & Safety:

  • Adhere to infection control protocols specific to obstetrics and gynaecology.
  • Ensure patient safety and proper clinical hygiene.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Participate in clinical meetings and training programs.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives within the department.
  • Provide on-call support as per hospital duty rosters.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From ₹25,000.00 per month
