Their responsibilities encompass a wide range of areas, including as below. Scope of Role Dieticians play a critical role in promoting health and well-being across various healthcare settings. Their expertise in nutrition and counselling skills contribute significantly to the overall care of individuals and communities. Nutrition Assessment and Counseling : Conducting comprehensive assessments to identify nutritional needs and risks, developing personalized nutrition plans, and providing counseling and education to patients and their families. Medical Nutrition Therapy : Collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to manage nutrition-related health conditions, such as diabetes, heart disease, and obesity. Food Service Management : Overseeing the planning, preparation, and delivery of safe and nutritious meals in healthcare settings. Community Nutrition: Educating the public about healthy eating habits and promoting healthy lifestyle choices. Research and Advocacy: Conducting research on nutrition and its impact on health, and advocating for policies that support healthy eating and access to nutritious food. Responsibilities Specific responsibilities may vary depending on the work setting and specialization, but common duties include: Patient Care: Providing individualized nutrition counselling, developing and monitoring meal plans, educating patients on food choices and dietary modifications. Documentation: Maintaining accurate and comprehensive records of patient interactions, nutrition assessments, and interventions. Collaboration: Working effectively with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and pharmacists. Education and Training: Providing nutrition education to patients, families, and healthcare professionals. Policy and Advocacy: Contributing to the development of nutrition policies and advocating for improved access to nutritious food. Responsible for any other additional responsibilities assigned by the Management from time to time.
