Dialysis Technician

Role Overview: As a Dialysis Technician, your primary responsibility will be to perform assigned patient care activities under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will ensure effective and efficient service by operating the hemodialysis machine to provide dialysis treatment for patients with kidney issues. Your role is crucial in maintaining the well-being of the patients and adhering to established policies, procedures, and guidelines. Key Responsibilities: - Attach dialyzer and tubing to the machine, mix dialysate, and prime the dialyzer with saline or heparinized solution. - Transport patients to the dialysis room, position them on the lounge chair, and record vital signs before the procedure. - Explain the dialysis procedure and the operation of the hemodialysis machine to patients to alleviate any anxieties. - Connect the hemodialysis machine to the patient's access point and monitor equipment settings to ensure safety standards are met. - Start the blood flow pump, monitor pressures, calculate fluid removal/replacement, and watch for adverse reactions or machine malfunctions. - Maintain appropriate departmental documentation, ensure confidentiality of patient and organizational information, and participate in Quality Assurance/Quality Control activities. - Perform any additional tasks assigned due to work requirements and actively engage in Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives.
