Development Manager - Business Data Cloud

We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager to lead the App2App Integration team within SAP Business Data Cloud. This leadership role is central to driving the design, development and delivery of integration services that enable real-time, secure and scalable data exchange across SAP s enterprise applications and unified data fabric. As a hands-on technical leader, you will guide a team of senior engineers focused on building event-driven, ETL-enabled and cloud-native services that form the backbone of SAP s data fabric. This role requires strong technical depth in Java, data processing pipelines and modern data tools such as Databricks or Apache Spark, as we'll as the ability to shape architecture, manage delivery and foster team growth Responsibilities: Own end-to-end delivery App2App integration components and services using Java, Apache Kafka, RESTful APIs and modern data pipelines. Accelerate the App2App integration roadmap by identifying reusable patterns, driving platform automation and establishing best practices. Drive the evolution of ETL pipelines and real-time data processing systems to support scalable, low-latency data flows across SAP s platforms. Collaborate with product owners, solution architects and global engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical execution plans Drive the integration of modern data engineering tools such as Databricks, Spark or similar technologies to enrich and accelerate data workflows. Ensure the team delivers robust, secure and performant services with strong observability, testing and monitoring in place. Support cross-product integration initiatives with other SAP data platform efforts including SAP Datasphere, SAP Analytics Cloud and BDC runtime services. Foster a positive team culture focused on collaboration, learning, accountability and innovation What you bring : 10+ years of hands-on experience in backend development using Java and distributed systems Proven experience in ETL design, data transformation pipelines and large-scale data integration systems Experience with Databricks, Apache Spark or other modern cloud-native data processing platforms is a strong advantage. Technical expertise with messaging framework, like Apache Kafka and event driven architecture Experience working in large-scale enterprise software environments, ideally involving SAP applications or data platforms Strong familiarity of Hyperscaler environments such as AWS, Azure or GCP. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence across global, cross-functional teams. Proven ability to build, retain and lead diverse, high-performing engineering teams in an agile, fast-paced environment bachelors or masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
