Job Description

Software Developer WSP is currently recruiting a talented and highly motivated Software Developer to join our team based in Canada. Candidates outside of Canada will be considered, as it s a remote position. The position will focus on the development of applications that help our clients anticipate and prepare for adverse weather impacts on their operations. We provide database management, software development and web-based information delivery to clients, including our own 24/7 weather forecasting centre, using cloud technologies and an Agile software development process. Key Responsibilities Designing, developing, testing, debugging, and documenting front-end and back-end applications Contributing to team processes and quality control measures Communicating effectively with team members on various tasks and projects Monitoring, supporting, or enhancing existing applications Participating in an after-hours support rotation for mission-critical applications Other duties, as assigned Role Requirements You are expected to bring your enthusiasm and energy, your passion for learning new things, your interest in new technology, and your drive for quality. Required Skills 3-5 years of relevant experience A Computer Science or Software Engineering degree Experience creating scalable, data-driven applications with Python, C#, or JavaScript Competence with Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL Experience creating database stored procedures and optimizing database queries Experience with version control using Git Excellent oral and written communication skills Preferred Skills Experience with cloud services, especially Amazon Web Services Knowledge and experience working in a Linux environment Experience with Vue, React, or other front-end frameworks Experience with mobile application development Expertise in UI/UX design and implementation
