Job Description

The Lead Engineer will be responsible for the end-to-end design, development, release, and validation of Gearbox, Clutch, DMF, ESS, and Driveline systems. The role demands strong leadership in managing system-level integration, supplier coordination, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure adherence to project Quality, Cost, Timing, and Performance (QCTP) targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead

    Design, Release, and eBOM

    activities for assigned systems/subsystems ensuring QCTP compliance.
  • Manage system integration and balancing of

    Gearboxes, Clutch, DMF, ESS, and Driveline hardware

    .
  • Serve as the primary interface with

    COEs, DREs, Manufacturing, Suppliers, and Validation Engineers

    .
  • Define and maintain

    Technical Specifications (TTS)

    with AE and key stakeholders.
  • Drive creation and maintenance of

    DFMEAs, assembly drawings, DVP&Rs, risk assessments, and test plans

    .
  • Conduct hardware system design reviews and support component validation activities.
  • Coordinate with ACE & FM teams on

    BOM management and prototype builds

    .
  • Maintain and update

    Lessons Learned, EBPs, and technical documentation

    .
  • Review and approve change notices, prototype orders, and ensure all updates are aligned with engineering standards.
  • Lead

    DRBTR reviews

    , track follow-up actions, and manage issue resolution through GIMS or PLM/ISS.
  • Collaborate on

    Technical Cost Reduction (TCR)

    and

    Value Optimization (VO)

    initiatives.
  • Support homologation document approvals and product readiness milestones (LRF completion).
  • Benchmark competitive systems and ensure alignment with industry standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in

    Mechanical or Automotive Engineering

    .
  • 12–15 years

    of hands-on experience in

    External Shift System and Clutch Operating System

    design and development.
  • Expertise in

    component design, detailing, tolerance and stack-up analysis

    .
  • Strong understanding of

    materials, heat treatment processes

    , and

    manufacturing feasibility

    .
  • Proficient in

    PLM, APQP processes

    , and engineering documentation standards.
  • Exposure to

    structural simulation (CAE)

    preferred.
  • Excellent

    communication, coordination, and leadership skills

    .
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and engage with senior management.
