Job Description

As a Design Engineer - PHE & Fire Protection for Data Center Projects at Jacobs, your role is crucial in supporting the Lead Engineer to meet project goals, ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders, and coordinating with interdisciplinary team members. Your responsibilities will include assisting the Department Head and Discipline Head, exhibiting technical domain knowledge, and preparing project-related activities such as design calculations, drawings, specifications, and vendor drawing reviews. It is essential to adhere to Department Work Instructions and Quality Management Systems while guiding a team of designers in 2D/3D fire and PHE engineering. Key Responsibilities: - Support the Lead Engineer in achieving project goals - Communicate effectively with stakeholders - Coordinate with interdisciplinary team members - Assist Department Head and Discipline Head - Demonstrate technical domain knowledge - Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications, and vendor drawing reviews - Adhere to Department Work Instructions and Quality Management Systems - Guide a team of designers in 2D/3D fire and PHE engineering - Review 3D models, layouts, and MTOs extracted from the model - Ensure compliance with fire protection standards such as NFPA, TAC, NBC, IS, and insurance agency standards - Familiarity with PHE work standards like NBC and IS - Possess good communication skills Qualifications & Skills: - Degree in Mechanical Discipline - Minimum 5 years experience in Fire Protection and PHE Department of an Engineering consultancy organization specializing in data centers and site master planning - Knowledge of standards such as NBC, IS, TAC, NFPA, FM requirements, and UPC/IFC code requirements - Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Hydraulic Calculation Software like Pipe net - Openness to training on in-house tools and proprietary software - Review all aspects of design and construction for consistency and safety At Jacobs, we value collaboration and believe in the power of in-person interactions for both our culture and client delivery.
