Job Description

As an AM Design Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the development, modification, and optimization of engineering designs for products and systems. Your role will involve utilizing CAD tools, providing project leadership, mentoring team members, and supporting the transition from design to manufacturing. Key Responsibilities: - Develop detailed 2D and 3D models, drawings, and specifications using CAD software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks. - Collaborate with production, quality, and R&D teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective. - Interpret customer requirements to create innovative engineering solutions. - Participate in brainstorming sessions and design reviews to refine concepts and prototypes. - Prepare and maintain engineering documentation including BOMs, drawings, and technical reports. - Conduct design validation, prototyping, and testing to ensure compliance with standards. - Support the manufacturing team during product development, troubleshooting, and process improvements. - Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies. - Research new materials, technologies, and design methodologies to enhance product performance. - Provide technical support to sales, marketing, and customer service teams as required. Additional Responsibilities for Senior Role: - Lead and mentor a team of junior design engineers and draftsmen, providing technical guidance and support. - Oversee multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards. - Review and approve engineering drawings, models, and documentation prepared by the team. - Coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex design and manufacturing challenges. - Drive innovation by introducing new design methodologies, materials, and technologies. - Manage design change requests, engineering change orders, and ensure proper documentation. - Support the development of best practices, design standards, and continuous improvement initiatives. - Participate in strategic planning for new product development and contribute to the company's technology roadmap. - Ensure compliance with industry standards, certifications, and regulatory requirements. Required Skills & Qualifications: - Education: Bachelors/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field. - Experience: 8+ years in design engineering, preferably in a manufacturing or heavy engineering environment. - Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software, understanding of engineering principles, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and familiarity with PLM tools. - Soft Skills: Creative problem-solving, analytical thinking, communication, teamwork, attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects.
