Database Kernel Development - Architect

Role Overview: You will be joining the Database Kernel Development team based in multiple locations including the Bay Area, Toronto, and India. The team specializes in building highly scalable and mission-critical enterprise products. As a Database Kernel Development Architect, your main responsibility will be architecting, designing, and coding features for high-quality relational database management systems (RDBMS). You will work closely with a team of talented software engineers, providing guidance and expertise in relational database development. Key Responsibilities: - Architect, design, and code features for high-quality relational database management systems - Participate in design and architecture reviews, test plan reviews, and code reviews - Inspect and assess the quality of engineering work within the organization - Prioritize delivering working products to customers over architectural purity - Vet technical feasibility of team proposals and communicate risks proactively - Collaborate with architects, engineering managers, and Scrum teams to execute feature roadmap - Understand customer use cases to guide architectural decisions - Engage with Directors and Senior Directors to leverage technical capabilities and understand proposal risks and benefits - Explore cutting-edge technologies, design patterns, and Engineering Best Practices - Drive a collaborative work environment with other Scrum Leads and engineering managers Qualifications Required: - 15+ years of experience in relational database kernel development - Demonstrated experience in designing and architecting critical areas of successful commercial or open-source RDBMS - Excellent communication and problem-solving skills - Experience with highly-scalable and highly-available systems - Ability to work in a high-paced, high-demand environment - Proficiency in C/C++ software development,
