Job Description

The Database engineering team is based in the Bay Area, Toronto, and India, with a focus on building highly scalable, mission-critical enterprise products. As part of expanding the team in India, we are seeking engineers and leaders passionate about working on RDBMS technology at a massive scale, driven by continuous innovation. We are currently looking for a Database Kernel Development Architect with a solid background in database internals. In this role, you will collaborate with a team responsible for architecting, developing, and testing an RDBMS. Your responsibilities will include participating in design and architecture reviews, test plan reviews, and code reviews, even for projects you are not directly involved with daily. Additionally, you will engage in hands-on coding for one or more projects, working closely with a team of talented and motivated software engineers specializing in relational database development. Emphasis will be placed on coaching and mentoring LMTS and PMTS Engineers, particularly in defining and addressing non-functional requirements. Key responsibilities as an architect of the database development team include: - Architecting, designing, and coding high-quality features - Participating in design and architecture reviews, test plan reviews, and code reviews - Proactively evaluating the quality of work within the Engineering teams and prioritizing the delivery of functional products to customers - Assessing technical feasibility, communicating risks, and guiding teams on real-world solutions - Collaborating with architects and engineering managers to execute feature strategies, plan backlogs, and ensure flawless execution by the Scrum team - Demonstrating a deep understanding of customer use cases to influence architectural decisions and assess technical feature proposals - Engaging with Directors and Senior Directors to leverage technical team capabilities, evaluate proposals, and explore new technologies and best practices - Fostering a collaborative work environment with other Scrum Leads and engineering managers that promotes autonomy, innovation, learning, respect, transparency, and high delivery standards Requirements for this role include: - 15+ years of experience in relational database kernel development, including designing and architecting critical areas of a successful commercial or open-source RDBMS - Strong communication and problem-solving skills - Experience with highly scalable and highly available systems - Proficiency in C/C++ software development If you meet these requirements and are excited about the opportunity to work on cutting-edge database technology within a dynamic and innovative team, we encourage you to apply for the Database Kernel Development Architect position.,
