Position Summary

Database Operator

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain database performance, availability, and security.
  
• Perform routine database operations including backups, restores, indexing, and updates.
  
• Assist in creating, modifying, and optimizing database tables, queries, and stored procedures.
  
• Identify and troubleshoot database issues such as slow queries, data inconsistencies, and capacity problems.
  
• Execute scheduled jobs and automation tasks related to database maintenance.
  
• Ensure proper data integrity, validation, and compliance with company policies.
  
• Work with development and IT teams to support application database needs.
  
• Generate reports and assist with data extraction for business teams.
  
• Maintain detailed logs, documentation, and operational procedures.
  

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  
• Strong knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts.
  
• Experience working with at least one major database system (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle).
  
• Understanding of backup and recovery procedures.
  
• Ability to analyze and optimize queries for better performance.
  
• Experience with database monitoring tools.
  
• Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling data.
  

Preferred Qualifications (Optional)

• Experience with database automation scripts (Shell, Python, PowerShell).
  
• Knowledge of database security best practices.
  
• Familiarity with cloud-based databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL).
  
• Experience working in 24/7 production environments.
  
• Exposure to ETL processes and data migration tools.
