Database Developer

Key Responsibilities:

Database Migration & Transformation

• Migrate Oracle databases to PostgreSQL (AlloyDB) using manual and automated processes.
  
• Rewrite stored procedures, packages, triggers, and SQL logic from

  PL/SQL to PL/pgSQL

  .
• Recreate schemas, constraints, indexes, views, and DB objects in PostgreSQL.
  

Performance Optimization

• Implement table partitioning, advanced indexing, and query optimization.
  
• Use tools like

  EXPLAIN ANALYZE, pg_stat_statements

  , and cloud monitoring for performance tuning.
• Collaborate with DevOps for DB provisioning and deployments.
  

Data Validation & Quality Assurance

• Perform

  source-to-target data comparison

  between Oracle and AlloyDB.
• Develop scripts for data validation, reconciliation, and transformation checks.
  
• Handle large datasets with bulk data processing and archival validation.
  

Collaboration & Documentation

• Work with BAs, Tech Leads, and QA to translate Oracle business logic into scalable PostgreSQL logic.
  
• Document migration steps, schema differences, and rollback strategies.
  

Required Skills & Experience:

• 8+ years

  in database development and migration (Oracle & PostgreSQL).
• Expertise in

  PL/SQL & PL/pgSQL

  (procedures, triggers, performance tuning).
• Strong experience in

  partitioning, indexing, and schema conversion

  .
• Hands-on in

  data validation, reconciliation, and benchmarking

  .
• Experience in

  Agile, version control, and collaborative development

  .

Good to Have:

• Experience with

  cloud environments

  (AlloyDB, Aurora, GCP, AWS).
• Exposure to

  Python/Shell scripting

  for automation and validation.
• Knowledge of

  BTEQ-to-RSQL conversion

  or legacy script transformations.
