Database Consultant

Job Description

Responsibilities Install, configure, manage, and maintain various database systems, including Azure SQL Database, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL and MongoDB. Monitor and optimize database performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks to ensure optimal scalability and efficiency. Develop and implement robust backup and recovery strategies, ensuring business continuity and data protection through regular testing and validation. Implement and enforce database security best practices, including user access control, encryption, and auditing, to safeguard sensitive data. Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, such as performance degradation, connectivity issues, and data corruption. Automate routine DBA tasks using scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash) and automation tools. Work closely with developers, cloud administrators, and other teams to support application development and deployment. Participate in an On-Call rotation to provide support for critical database systems. Education / Qualifications Should have bachelors/masters degree in engineering discipline. A minimum of 6-10 years of relevant work experience Proficiency in SQL and other database query languages. Expertise in database performance tuning and optimization tools. Strong knowledge of database security best practices and compliance standards. Experience with backup and recovery strategies, tools, and techniques. Familiarity with automation and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash). Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications: Hands-on experience with SQL administration and optimization. Certifications in Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, or Oracle Database are a plus.
