Job Description

You will be responsible for troubleshooting complex database issues in an accurate and timely manner, ensuring continuous availability and speedy recovery by maintaining database disaster recovery procedures. It will be your duty to deploy databases according to GBS standards and business requirements, as well as identify and resolve issues related to performance and capacity. Moreover, you will need to perform database management and maintenance tasks effectively while meeting ticket SLA expectations. Keeping yourself updated with new database technologies and analyzing them to incorporate into the existing infrastructure will be crucial. You must be adept at switching between OLTP and OLAP environments. To qualify for this role, you should hold a Bachelor's degree in engineering or possess related experience of 3-5 years as a DBA, with a preference for multi-platform experience including MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres, CosmosDB, MongoDB, and MariaDB. Proficiency in SQL Server is mandatory. Deep understanding of integrated security and the ability to participate in troubleshooting activities are essential. Your communication skills will be put to the test as you engage in discussions on database-related topics with both technical and business audiences. Additionally, you will troubleshoot, investigate, offer, and execute resolutions to database issues, monitor and report on database storage utilization, and manage scheduled tasks, backup jobs, recovery processes, alerts, and database storage needs in line with firm change control procedures. Collaboration is key, as you will work well in a team environment within the database administration team, as well as with other Technical Service Group teams and various departments within the Wolters Kluwer. Regular reporting on the performance and stability of the database environment will be required, along with proactive identification of upcoming needs to ensure continued reliable service. Your responsibilities will also include documenting, developing, testing, and implementing updates to database systems, as well as staying up to date with new technologies and contributing to the knowledge of others. Flexibility is essential, as you may need to work outside of regular business hours for project or operational work. In terms of experience, you should have at least 3-5 years of experience in Database Administration, with proficiency in all aspects of setup, maintenance, troubleshooting, monitoring, and security. Experience with the upgrade/migration of database platforms from On-Prem to cloud solutions is advantageous. Your technical skillset should encompass solid Database Administration, building cloud model servers end-to-end, On-premises to Cloud DB migrations, data security, backup & recovery tools, experience with Windows server including Active Directory, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. A flexible, team-oriented, get-it-done personality, the ability to organize and plan work independently, and the capacity to work in a rapidly changing environment are all essential for this role.,
