Description
Install, configure, monitor, maintain, and improve the performance of databases and data stores (PostgreSQL on Azure) Perform standard database maintenance and administration tasks Identify and act on automation opportunities to improve performance and value from databases, data stores, and data pipelines Apply knowledge of logical database schema to design and optimize database structures Use database management system software and tools to collect performance statistics and troubleshoot issues Collaborate with development teams to support live operational databases in production use or internal/interim databases used for iterative developments and testing Develop and implement migration strategies from PostgreSQL to SQL Server (if required) Perform regular backup and restore procedures, as well as database indexing and caching Technical Skills Proficiency in PostgreSQL on Azure, with experience in configuration, security, performance optimization, and troubleshooting Familiarity with SQL Server (if migration is part of the project) Experience with automation tools, such as scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell), and database management system software (e.g., pgAdmin, SQL Server Management Studio) Knowledge of database performance monitoring tools (e.g., New Relic, Prometheus) and metrics collection Required Certificates SFIA Level 3 certification in Database Administration or equivalent experience Minimum 2 years of experience in database administration, with a focus on PostgreSQL on Azure. Exposure to SQL Server. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with development teams and other stakeholders Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively Strong understanding of security principles and best practices Nice to have Experience with automation frameworks/infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Terraform) Experience with containerization technologies, such as Docker Certification in a related field, such as database administration, DevOps, or cloud computing
