Database Administrator (PostgreSQL & MS SQL)

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) with strong hands-on expertise in PostgreSQL (80%) and Microsoft SQL (20%), along with solid working experience in AWS cloud environments.

46 years hands-on DBA experience.
Strong expertise in PostgreSQL (must) and MS SQL Server (must).Experience working with AWS RDS, EC2, S3, IAM.Proficiency in SQL scripting, stored procedures, triggers, and performance tuning.Experience with database monitoring tools (CloudWatch, pgAdmin, SQL Profiler, Grafana, etc.).Familiarity with replication, clustering, and disaster recovery solutions.Understanding of networking concepts and cloud security best practices.Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Database Administration

Install, configure, upgrade, and manage PostgreSQL and MS SQL Server databases.

Perform database performance tuning, index optimization, query optimization, and resource management.

Manage backup & restore strategies, log shipping, replication, clustering, and failover configurations.

AWS Cloud Database Management

Deploy, maintain, and optimize databases on AWS RDS / EC2.

Manage parameter groups, monitoring, snapshots, backups, and cross-region replication.

Ensure database high availability, scalability, and cost optimization in AWS.

Monitoring & Troubleshooting

Monitor system performance using AWS CloudWatch and other DB monitoring tools.

Perform root-cause analysis for performance bottlenecks and production issues.

Ensure proactive resource planning and capacity management.

Security & Compliance

Implement and maintain DB security, roles, permissions, and encryption.

Ensure data compliance (GDPR, ISO, SOC, or client-specific standards where applicable).

Maintain audit logs, vulnerability checks, and security patching.

Collaboration

Work closely with developers for schema design, query improvements, and deployment best practices.

Support DevOps pipelines where necessary (CI/CD database migrations, automated deployments).

Prepare technical documentation and database architecture diagrams.
