Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Database Administrator to join our IT team in Bengaluru (Bangalore) The successful candidate will be responsible for the management and maintenance of database systems to ensure their optimal performance, availability, and security How you will create impact: High-Level Database System Design: Develop and implement the overall design and structure of database systems to ensure efficiency and scalability Technical Design Reviews: Evaluate and review technical designs, providing recommendations for improvements to existing products Focus on optimizing databases for high-volume and highly scalable applications Routine Maintenance, Backup, and Recovery: Conduct regular maintenance activities on production databases, including backup and recovery processes to ensure data integrity and availability 24/7 Support Readiness: Be prepared to handle support calls around the clock, providing timely assistance during emergencies or critical database issues Essential qualifications: Extensive experience (1-2 years) managing both PostgreSQL and Oracle databases, handling all aspects of database administration Skilled in setting up, configuring, and maintaining Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) for improved database availability and performance Proficient in the installation and configuration of PostgreSQL and Oracle RAC environments Experience providing production support, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving issues to ensure smooth database operations Strong knowledge of backup and recovery strategies, including database backup tools and methodologies Skilled in implementing automated backup solutions and restoring data as part of disaster recovery plans Expertise in database performance tuning, query optimization, and the use of indexing to improve database efficiency, especially for high-volume databases Knowledgeable in vertical (scale-up) and horizontal (scale-out) scalability techniques to handle increasing data loads effectively Understanding of AWS RDS for PostgreSQL and Oracle, including deployment, configuration, and management of databases in cloud environments
